I hope Crom's cruise wasn't on a P&O ferry, if it was he probably missed the boat.
Seeing the traffic jam on the M20 due to extra security checks by the French made me wonder what on earth were they checking?
Are we now exporting terrorists? Where they sending Brexit voters back home or as I suspect just being bolshie nasty little jobsworths that the French are well knowned to be?

More to the point, seeing as how the terrorists seem to be running rampant in France shouldn't it be us doing the extra security checks and creating the traffic jams on their side?

Quite right CC. Pull up the drawbridge, we'll be alright. Feeding fifty million'll be a doddle. We can trade with the rest of the world. We can use the Royal Navy to protect our shipping.

Er - hang on a minute.

There was a time that these awards might have meant something but you can buy 'em pretty cheap these days.

Thanks, BBC: I just picked this one up.

Charming lot.

Meanwhile, we have had three lots of excessive police violence reported this week.
In one, the arresting officer has the offender (with a long list of violet prior offences) face down and repeatedly punching him in the head before he stomps on his head, withdrawing his tactical torch and using it like a biscuit cutter on his head.

In another case, a cop in a cell block feels threatened by the abuse of an arrested man. he swings him to the floor, belting his face against a steel cell door. he claims the man tried to headbut him but the video shows there was no such action. The prisoner was charged with assaulting police but the charge was dropped once the video was screened nationally. So why was the cop not charged with making a false report?

In another, an invalid pensioner who was telling police he was fine was dragged out on to his lawn bu SIX cops and sprayed at point blank range with capsicum spray - contrary to all training and regulations - and mocked with "Do you like that, do ya!". Finally one cop turns the hose on the handcuffed man's face and adjusts it from a fog nozzle to a direct, thin, forceful stream, directly into his eyes.
